What is YouthBuild?
YouthBuild provides pathways to education, jobs, entrepreneurship, and other opportunities for individuals who have not completed high school. The program helps young people, between the ages of 16 and 24, to rebuild their communities and break the cycle of poverty with a commitment to work, education, and community. All services are provided at no cost.
The YouthBuild Program
YouthBuild is a pre-apprentice program that helps residents that reside in Southwest Connecticut, earn their GED, learn construction and manufacturing skills. In addition participants receive academic supports and engage in leadership opportunities through community service projects.
At YouthBuild, low-income young people learn construction skills by building affordable housing for homeless and low-income people in their neighborhoods and other community assets such as playgrounds. For unemployed young people who dropped out of high school, YouthBuild is an opportunity to reclaim their education, gain the skills they need for employment, and become leaders in their communities.
