EPA BROWNFIELDS JOB TRAINING GRANT PROPOSAL

The WorkPlace, Inc. is in the process of preparing an application for a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the EPA Brownfields Job Training Program. The EPA awards competitive grants to develop environmental cleanup and health and safety training programs for unemployed and underemployed, predominately low-income and minority residents of brownfields-impacted communities. These programs provide trainees with the skills needed to obtain jobs created by the assessment, cleanup, and redevelopment of brownfields in their communities.

The WorkPlace, Inc. proposes to provide occupational skills training for residents of the municipalities of Ansonia, Derby, Norwalk, Seymour, and Shelton who meet the above cited criteria.

The WorkPlace, Inc. is seeking input from residents, community based organizations and other agencies within these communities as well as employers in the field of Brownfields remediation.

Any interested party within the municipalities of Ansonia, Derby, Norwalk, Seymour, and Shelton, any employer in the field of Brownfields remediation or any other stakeholder desirous of more information should contact Frank Moore, Program Performance Manager at fmoore@workplace.org
